LAHORE: Police on Wednesday arrested a man for having a brawl with the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) officials in Gulberg.

A police official told Dawn that Azraab had come to the Nadra office for renewal of the CNIC of his mother at the Gulberg office. “He had a quarrel with the Nadra officials over some issue and damaged the windowpanes of the office,” he said, adding Azraab had been booked under sections 506, 186 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

A source told Dawn that Azraab got frustrated when the Nadra officials made him and his mother wait for quite some time. “He exchanged harsh words with the officials for not starting the process. The harsh words led to a scuffle with the Nadra security officials and he vent out his anger by damaging the windowpanes,” the source said.

Nadra Lahore Director-General retired Col Anees Kayani was not available for comment.
