KARACHI: Abdullah Khan beat Kirtan Mukesh while Rayyan Suhail beat Taha Aman in Under-14 singles in the 4th Essa Lab Open National Tennis championship that entered the second day on Wednesday at the hard courts of Karachi Gymkhana.

The prestigious week-long championship, organised by the Sindh Tennis Association (STA), carries a cash prizes of Rs100,000.

In the first round of under-14 singles, Abdullah outplayed Kirtan 6-1, 6-1 by displaying superb game while Rayyan faced some resistance from Taha before coming out winner 6-4, 6-1.

In the U-16 quarter-finals, Zubair Raja got the better of Parbat Kumar 1-7, 6-4, 10-3.

In the first round of U-12 singles, Hammad Khan won against Ali Dada 8-2; M Ibrahim Khan against Taha Aman 8-3 and Ashar Mir against Saim Das 8-0.

In the first round of U-10 Single, Kirtan beat Ibrahim Shafi 8-0 and Siam Das overpowered Eshmaal Khan 8-1.

Earlier, on the first day of the event, Summit Das won over Ricthic Das 6-4, 6-2 while Parbat Kumar beat Ayaz Khan 6-1, 6-1 and Zubair Raja over-came Parbat Kumar 1-7, 6-4, 10-3.

In the under-12 singles, Renak Dad beat M Farooq Atiq 10-6 while Zain Ehtisham got the better of Haris Tariq by 9-7.

In the U-14 singles first-round matches, Kamber Hasnain beat Asim Gul 7-6, 6-4 while Farooq Atiq got a walkover against Sameer Ali.
