COLOMBO: High Commissioner of Pakistan to Sri Lanka Syed Shakeel Hussain presents the Majestic Pakistan Book to the head of the 19-member NDU delegation, Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt, on Tuesday.—INP

COLOMBO: Marking an important step in military relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, a 19-member delegation from the National Defence University (NDU) of Pakistan led by Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt, HI (M), is currently undertaking a five-day visit to Sri Lanka.

The delegation comprises senior officers from Pakistan’s armed forces and civil service as well as officers from Turkey, Iran, Nigeria and Sudan who are attending national security and war course at the NDU. Defence Adviser of Pakistan to Sri Lanka Col Rajil Irshad Khan is conducting the visit.

The visit which started on Sunday aims to gain an overview of the defence, economic, domestic and foreign policies of Sri Lanka and to explore areas of mutual interest for enhancing cooperation in various spheres. 

The delegation visited the High Commission of Pakistan for an interaction session on Monday. High Commissioner of Pakistan Syed Shakeel Hussain briefed the delegates about Pakistan-Sri Lanka ties and the role of the high commission.
