PESHAWAR: Democracy Reporting International (DRI), Pakistan chapter, on Tuesday launched a media guide for working journalists, particularly those working in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata, to help them highlight violations of human rights in accordance with the international treaties and conventions.

The media guide was unveiled at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club.

On the occasion, DRI advocacy expert Mohammad Rafiq said launching of the media guide was aimed at providing ethical guidelines for journalists to avoid victimisation while reporting human rights related issues. He said the media guide had been produced with assistance of the German Foreign Office.

The media guide has a number of chapters, including rights and obligations for journalists, case study on different subjects, GSP-plus status, and human rights bodies in Pakistan, articles of various international treaties and conventions and abbreviations of key terminologies.
