BADIN, Nov 16: The Kadhan police have registered a case against 35 rain victims of different villages of the coastal belt, Badin taluka, for raising slogans against authorities during protest rallies in Kadhan and Badin.

The rain victims had taken to the streets on Nov 8 and 10 against the partisan attitude of District Relief Commission and the district authorities in providing compensation to the affected people.

Kadhan union council Naib Nazim Noor Mohammad Mallah and councillors of the Abdullah Zaffar Bohar union council were among those nominated in the FIR.

The police on Saturday picked up 16 accused including Naib Nazim Noor Mohammad, Zafar, Bohar UC councillor Punhal Jamali, Mohammad Bukhsh Jamali, Mumtaz, Iqbal, Allahdino, Sultan Bohar, Mohammad Ali Mallah, Mahram, Baboo Jamali and Mohammad Ali Chandio.

However, the police later released them on personal surety, with the directives to appear before a court on Tuesday when a charge-sheet would be submitted.

The police were conducting raids on the houses of other accused to arrest them.

Meanwhile, Kadhan Naib Nazim Noor Mohammad said at instigation of DRC chairman Pir Ali Bux Shah false cases were registered against flood victims who raised their voice against the mismanagement in relief and rehabilitation operations.

He alleged that Mr Shah was excluding names of the deserving people from survey lists.

He said except for few victims, the people getting payment from Zakat funds for construction of their houses were favourites of the DRC chairman.

The Naib Nazim demanded an impartial investigation into the distribution of Zakat funds among the victims for repairing their houses.

WATER SHORTAGE: Growers of Deh Lundo, Khhadi, Khalifa, Thath and other dehs of the Badin taluka have condemned the artificial shortage of water in the Kazia Canal and its Ganj-Bahar Shakh.

Talking to journalists here on Sunday, Ramzan Mallah, Qasim Dal and other growers said if water was not judiciously distributed, crops cultivated over 30,000 acres would be destroyed.
