ISLAMABAD: Army will face defending champion Sindh in the final of women’s event of the National Netball Championship at the Hamidi Hall of the Pakistan Sports Complex here on Friday.

While, in the men’s event, defending champion Army will face Wapda at the same venue.

In the first semi-final of the day, Sindh trashed Punjab 27-11.

Sindh’s strikers Anum Salam and Quratul Ain played leading role in the victory of their teams by scoring seven and 20 goals respectively.

Whereas, in the second semi-final, Army’s Ayesha Dilshad and Samreen guided their team to defeat Wapda 28-20. Ayesha Dilshad scored 20 goals.

Later on, in the men’s semi-final, Army had to work hard to defeat Air Force 31-26.

Abdul Haque and M. Zahid played leading role in the victory.

Army will face Wapda, which moved into the final after defeating Sindh 36-26.

Wapda’s strikers Samad Masood and Mohammad Yawar were the leading scorers.

In the last national championship, Army had won the title after defeating Air Force which was considered one of the best teams.

However, this time around, the defending champion will face relatively easy team in the final.
