MANSEHRA: The bodies of two suspected honour killing victims were exhumed at a local graveyard for postmortem on Wednesday.

A local court had ordered the exhumation of the bodies, which were secretly buried in the Sher Khanabad graveyard on the outskirts of Mansehra city.

Civil judge Ilyas Khan led the team of doctors, policemen and tehsil municipal administration officials, who conducted the exhumation.

A source in the police department claimed the postmortem report revealed that gunshots were fired by a pistol in the head of both the women from a distance of two to three feet.

Shad Mohammad Khan, lawyer for the women of the deceased, complained the bodies were exhumed for postmortem though his clients had moved a local court against it.

He said the police, which were a complainant in the case, had sought the postmortem of the two women.

The exhumation of the bodies was postponed two times on the court orders first on March 21 and later April 5 when a team of doctors, policemen and TMA officials was ready to go to perform exhumation and postmortem.

The police had arrested Haji Ahmad Khan and his nephews, including Sherzada and Noorur Rehman, in March for killing two female members of the family in the name of honour and secretly burying them in the graveyard.

ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE: A woman was killed and her two children and driver suffered critical injures when a jeep carrying passengers fell into a deep ravine in Torghar on Wednesday.

The accident occurred when the jeep was on the way to Darband in Mansehra from Socall.

The driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn. As a result, the jeep skidded off the road and plunged into the ravine.

The injured were shifted to the Oghi civil hospital.

The police registered an FIR and began investigation.
