India give attacking masterclass in 5-1 win over Pakistan

In a masterclass of attacking hockey, India handed Pakistan a 5-1 defeat and dent Mohammad Imran's side's prospects of a podium finish in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup on Tuesday.
For Pakistan, the opponents changed but the result was as damning as their previous two losses where they were outdone 4-0 and 5-3 by Australia and New Zealand respectively.
India were put on the board in just the 4th minute through Manpreet Singh and though Pakistan came back through captain Mohammad Imran's penalty corner in the 7th, it was one way traffic for the rest of the encounter.
Sunil added another goal to his tally in the 10th minute while Talwinder Singh (50) and Rupinder Pal Singh (54) scored one each in a clinical display by India.
Pakistan are currently placed at the 6th spot on the table and with two more games to play against Malaysia and Japan, they need a dramatic turnaround to ensure a 3rd-4th place bronze medal playoff.

We can't blame our team for for loss. They hardly have the funds to purchase air tickets and jerseys. India have a professional hockey league but even they struggle against better teams.

something is tremendously weong with the sports in Pakistan. The nation once a power house of cricket, hockey and squash became such a minnow. What a shame these sportsmen bringing to thier followers. Something needs to be done at he earliest to avoid such a humiliation day in and day out.
Wake up call to sports administration of Pakistan. Please do the needful. Period...

Two things .. one- the level of hockey has gone down and its falling sharply in Pakistan..second- India have done little better not to allow their hockey to die.. my friends in Pakistan please save hockey in your country, cricket is going to take you nowhere..

Dont know y was pakistanis overjoyed when Pak had defeated India in recent SAF games ...it was a game where Indian Junior hockey played and still lost only 1-0 ..this is their Olympic bound team ..Pakistan couldn't qualify for Olympics for obvious reason !

Hockey should get the same glam treatment as IPL and more importantly they should make one change which is matches have to be played till we get a result.
If it means, extra time, penalty corner and shoot our so be it. Make it interesting for the crowd who buys tickets and spend time

Here is the pathetic state of the future of hockey in Pakistan, I recently went back home from US and could not find a hockey stick in the sports store. The owner told me no one plays hockey or has any interest in the sport. I am from the genreration that saw Pakistan win world cups, Olympics, champion trophy and the list goes on. It is extremely sad to see where we stand with a sport that we were masters off

I think these days we take turns beating each other while the top teams win the tournaments. Its a good boost for the ego I guess. We beat Pak, yeh no more worries in life.

Pakistan might soon have two arch rivals in both Cricket and Hockey instead of just one and they will be Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Pakistan has the best talent in South Asia but corruption is destroying the sports. Which other country will send a team in such a prestigious tournament that was dead tired by the fourth quarter and could barely move.

Pakistan should introduce foreign coaches for some time & respect their opinions,not be head strong.India has been seeking foreign coaches for quite some time now & that has allowed it to keep its hockey somewhat competitive. Also,leave the administration of the game to ex players if possible.

For better Hockey and other games both countries shd play more with each other. We can exchange teams and participate in country leagues. Sports makes better law abiding citizens. It also distracts their minds from negativity. In the sports arena a good player gets appreciation from rivals too. Pakistan Hockey needs resource and a plan for future. One can hope sanity prevails in South Asia.

There was a time when India-Pakistan contests, be it in cricket or hockey were always nail biters. It seems of late, Pakistani performances have become poor and contests have become one-sided. The crumbling support base, lack of funds and proper coaching and lack of international exposure is showing up on the Pakistani side. Meanwhile India surges ahead with professional leagues like IPL( cricket) and IHL (Hockey), where a lot of money and international players, coaches etc are involved
