RIYADH, Nov 11: Saudi security forces have arrested several people suspected of involvement in Sunday’s suicide bombing that killed 17 people here, Arabic language daily Al-Hayat reported on Tuesday.

“Several suspects have been arrested in the last two days,” said the daily, without giving the exact figure. Security authorities were also reported to have received “important information on the basis of which they were looking for suspects,” the report added.

Agencies quoting diplomats said: “A group of suspects in the bombing was detained. The campaign to chase the culprits started immediately after the bombing. Some were also detained and released after interrogation.”

The US embassy here slightly eased restrictions clamped on its staff and their dependents on Monday.

After a review of the threat level, the embassy staff and their families were told that they could travel outside Riyadh’s heavily guarded diplomatic quarter, to which they had been restricted since the attack, an embassy spokeswoman said.
