LARKANA, Nov 11: Eighteen development schemes initiated in the district under the special grant announced by the former Sindh governor have been left incomplete for want of funds.

The schemes, approved by the District Development Working Party, pertained to education, road, water supply and drainage, sources in the planning section of the district government told this correspondent here on Tuesday.

District Nazim Khursheed Ahmad Junejo in a communication to the Sindh governor said former Sindh governor Mohammedmian Soomro during his visit to Badah on Sept 30, 2002, had announced the special grant of Rs65.00 million.

He said as a first instalment, Rs18.417 million was released and work on six schemes of roads and one scheme of education, comprising construction of 20 new school buildings, was started.

Seven schemes of road and four of water supply and drainage were to be undertaken later, he said.

The district Nazim said the initiated schemes, except six of education, had remained incomplete as the remaining amount had not been released.

He demanded immediate release of Rs47.187 million to complete the schemes and clear liabilities of the contractors.
