KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) Wasay Jalil rejected all the allegations levelled by disgruntled party leader Dr Sagheer Ahmed's against the party, and termed it the 'repetition of decades old drama'.

Jalil, in his tweet, also labelled Kamal's new party as 'Haqiqi Two' and claimed that people are watching the same drama and the same script which was witnessed in 1992.

Soon after Sagheer's press conference, in which he announced joining former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal's thus far unnamed party, MQM lawmaker Ali Raza Abidi tweeted that those unable to "remain loyal to a party after being part of it for three decades" are presenting themselves before people to represent them.

He taunted Sagheer through Twitter and said that he is upset as he was not allowed to represent MQM at talkshows.

Incharge of MQM's International Secretariat in London, Nadeem Nusrat called Sagheer's move an attempt to mark his own 'failure' by blaming MQM for everything.

‘It’s a drama staged to eliminate MQM’

Later, in a statement released on the party's website, the MQM spokesperson claimed that the 'establishment' had tried to eliminate MQM and its founder Altaf Hussain since the party's emergence as the only party representing 'mohajirs'.

The anti-MQM forces did negative propaganda and even showed fake maps of 'Jinnah Pur' to misguide people about the party but mohajir and other communities living in Karachi have always voted in favour of Altaf Hussain, said the statement.

"This (formation of a new party and Sagheer's inclusion) is a drama staged to eliminate MQM and is the repetition of the drama staged back in 1992," read the statement.

It maintained that MQM supporters and workers along with all the “genuine journalists, analysts and politicians know the actual players and the purpose behind this drama”.

PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while talking to DawnNews, repeated his party chairman Imran Khan's demand that a judicial commission be formed to probe allegations levelled by Mustafa Kamal and now Dr Sagheer Ahmed against MQM.

"Sagheer repeated the same allegations Kaimkhani and Kamal levelled against MQM. The people of Karachi are confused about who is telling the truth and this confusion must be removed through a judicial commission," said Qureshi.

Former MQM MNA, Nabil Gabol, while talking to DawnNews said he had predicted MQM's downfall when he left the party.

"These people endured Altaf for years but I could only tolerate him for 14 months after which I left him for good," said Gabol.

Earlier, in the day, key MQM leader, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, through a press conference, announced to leave MQM and join Mustafa Kamal's newly formed political party.

Ahmed on the occasion also announced his resignation from the provincial assembly seat, which he was elected to on a MQM ticket.

Referring to past incidents, the charged former health minister said, "I still can not forget the situation of the city (Karachi) when sliced-up bodies were discovered in gunny bags every hour."

Ahmed was visibly disturbed and teary-eyed as he narrated what he said were some of the bloodiest episodes in the history of the metropolis.

Ahmed said that he had to break relationship with his family members as he kept on defending Altaf.

"Karachi has been exploited in front of everyone. I sacrificed everything for the tehreek (political movement)," said Ahmed.

He elaborated that he, along with all the other party members had served Altaf as if he was a god.

He was associated with the MQM for 28 years, and was elected to the provincial assembly seat from PS-117. During his time as an elected representative, Ahmed served as the provincial minister for environment and as the minister of health.
