QUETTA: Four suspected militants were killed and two others injured during a search operation conducted by security forces in Kahan area of Kohlu district on Thursday.

Three suspects were picked up from Dera Bugti and 12kg of explosive material and wire were seized from them.

Personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) and an intelligence agency carried out the search operation on information about the presence of militants in Kahan area, official sources said, adding that a heavy exchange of fire took place in which four militants were killed.

The FC spokesman said the deceased belonged to a banned organisation and five hideouts were busted.

Besides explosive material, an improvised explosive device and weapons were recovered.

The spokesman said the militants were involved in attacks on security forces, targeted killings and other subversion activities.

He said investigation was under way.
