DADU, Nov 8: A large number of people held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Saturday against the non- provision of medicines to poor patients and appointment of junior doctors in the Civil Hospital on key posts.

Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz leader Maqsood Chandio and Jeay Sindh Students’ Federation leader Abdul Jabbar Babar led the demonstration which was participated by Nazims, councillors, social workers and political activists of the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chandio alleged that officials of the Civil Hospital were not providing medicines to deserving patients.

They claimed the hospital staff was selling drugs to private medical stores.

They criticized mismanagement in the hospital and appointment of junior officers on key posts.

They alleged some 15 days back a JSQM man, Aijaz Ahmed Khoso, visited the Civil Hospital and demanded medicines for a poor patient admitted to the hospital but the civil surgeon created a drama of attack and registered a case against him.

Councillors Qaim Siyal, Bashir Bhatti, Javed Solangi and Gul Sher Solangi also spoke on the occasion.

DEMO: Members of the Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union held demonstrations in Dadu, Sita Road, Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Bhan, Sehwan and Johi on Saturday.

They were protesting against the forced retirement of the zonal vice- chairman of the union, Nazir Ahmed Panhwar.

ROBBERY: Five armed men barged in the house of trader Wasand Kumar in Shaikh Mohalla, Mehar on Saturday and looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Rs200,000.

Later, a group of people held a demonstration outside the local police station and demanded recovery of looted cash and things.
