LARKANA, Dec 28: The workers of Popular Welfare department observed hunger strike in Jinnah Bagh here on Friday against the merger of their department and the village workers project with Sindh Health department.

Talking to the protesters, their leader Peeral Dayo alleged that certain elements were misguiding President Parvez Musharraf in this regard.

He said that it would be unwise to close down the Population Welfare department that had generated awareness in the society about the fast growing population.

The employees of the village workers project had already filed a constitutional petition in the Sindh High Court, Larkana circuit bench, Mr Dayo said.

Muslim unity: The chief of Sindh National Front (SNF), Mumtaz Bhutto, has asked Gen Pervaiz Musharraf to unite the Muslim countries at one platform.
