TAXILA: Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Wah has introduced MS in civil engineering and PhD in management sciences.

“In a short span of time the institute has rapidly turned into a full-fledged university, encompassing a diverse range of academic disciplines to meet the industries demands,” says Dr Tayyeb Akram, director CIIT while talking to newsmen here on Friday.

“That is what we are aiming at Wah campus,” he says.

With the promotion of what he termed multiple scholarly activities, the institute has moved from being just as an IT education institution to an institute which offers social sciences and engineering as subjects. He said the institute had made all out necessary arrangements including laboratories to launch the MS and PhD programmes for the first time in the area.

“Traditionally, interests of students are narrowed down as they specialise, a practice that runs contrary to the global challenges we face,” he says.
