GUJRANWALA: PML-J chief Hamid Nasir Chattha’s son Ahmad Chattha announced joining the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in the presence of Imran Khan and expressed determination to defeat the PML-N in by-election in NA-101, Wazirabad, on March 22.

The PTI has nominated him as its candidate from the constituency. However, Hamid Nasir Chattha did not announce joining the party.

Addressing a meeting at the outhouse of the Chattha family in their native village Ahmadnagar, PTI chief Imran Khan appreciated Hamir Nasir Chattha for his long association with the PML-J, saying that manifestos of the PML-J and PTI were same.

He expressed the hope that Ahmad Chattha would play an active role for implementing the PTI manifesto and assured the Chatthas that Ahmad would be given proper place in the party.

Jahangir Tareen, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chaudhry Sarwar also accompanied Imran Khan.

Meanwhile, several people and children were injured when the PTI workers restored to baton-charge against them during distribution of lunch boxes and eatables after the meeting.

The sources said PML-N had again given the party ticket to its aspirant Mr Cheema.

It said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s son Hamza Shahbaz called angry leaders of party MPA Shauket Manzoor Cheema, Saif Ali Chattha, Akram Chattha and Nawazish Ali Cheema to Lahore and mediated between them and the party nominee Mr Cheema.

Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema’s brother former director general health Punjab Dr Nisar Ahmad Cheema and Imtiaz Bagri, an aspirant for district council chairman, accompanied them.
