PESHAWAR: The Bacha Khan University in Charsadda, where militants killed 21 students and teachers on January 21, announced on Monday that academic activities on campus will remain suspended until the government issues a security clearance certificate.

University spokesman Saeed Khan also announced that the varsity administration had rejected the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government's inquiry report on the attack, which had called for removal of the university's vice chancellor and security in-charge.

On Monday, the university administration held a second review session after the attack last month, and reiterated its decision to suspend academic activities till the provision of adequate security.

The spokesman said faculty members demanded a judicial inquiry into the attack.

KP govt inquiry report on attack

A fact-finding committee set up by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to conduct an inquiry into the attack on Bacha Khan University had called for the removal of the the university's vice chancellor and security in-charge, finding the two responsible for "serious lapses in the security management" of the varsity.

The committee concluded that "not a single [security] aspect was taken care of," according to a copy of the report, which is available with Dawn.com, and which has been submitted to KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.
