QUETTA: A comprehensive plan has been prepared to make Quetta and Gwadar safe cities. The project will cost Rs10 billion and the provincial government has already approved Rs3bn for the purpose.
This was stated at a meeting held here on Wednesday with Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattah in the chair.
Briefing the meeting, Director General of Information Technology Khalid Sher Dil said that the two cities would be made safe by installing laser cameras, automatic number plate readers and RFID security equipment and Rs10bn had been allocated for the project. Of the total amount, he added, Rs3bn had been approved for the purchase of systems and equipment.
Mr Sher Dil said that 1,400 security and vigilance cameras would be installed at all important points of Quetta city, including entry and exit points, while 465 cameras would be installed at 136 places in and around the Gwadar city. In addition, he said, wireless towers would be installed.
