RAHIM YAR KHAN: MNA Makhdoom Khusru Bakhtiar of PML-N claims that his party has got support of a majority of chairmen for the top slot of Rahim Yar Khan district council.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, he said 27 out of 31 independents had joined PML-N.

PML-N MNAs Sheikh Fayyazuddin, Mian Imtiaz Ahmed, MPAs Mehmoodul Hassan Cheema, Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht and Nawaz Khan were also present.

Mr Bakhtiar said: “Now there are 63 chairmen of PPP and 70 of PML-N.

Two chairmen of PTI will also support the ‘N’ candidate for the district council chairman.”

He said according to law, the PML-N would get maximum reserved seats. He said five chairmen of PPP “are ready to resign and the party is unlikely to get their votes in the election.”

Bakhtiar presented the list of independent chairmen who joined PML-N before the announced date of joining any party.

The list was submitted to the district returning officer and sent to Election Commission of Pakistan as well.

To a question, he said the transfer of DPO Zahid Nawaz Marwat during the local government election was a routine matter and not against rules. “Although some of our chairmen have alleged that the role of police was partial during the posting of DPO Marwat.”
