ISLAMABAD: Mohammad Abid and Heera Ashiq won the men’s doubles title at the Second Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Championships with a 6-1, 6-7 (1-7), 10-8 victory over Shahzad Khan and Yasir Khan here on Saturday.

Also at the PTF Tennis Complex, Aman Atiq outplayed Haris Irfan-ul-Haq 6-3, 6-4 to win the Boys’ Under-18 title.

Shoaib Khan of SNGPL proved a tough adversary for Islamabad’s Sami Zaib and clinched the Under-14 title with a lop-sided 6-1, 6-1 win.

In another interesting encounter, the pair of Rashid Malik and Hamid-ul-Haq defeated Israr Gul and Inamullah Khan to clinch the 45-plus title.

The finals of mens singles and the ladies singles competitions will be held on Sunday (today).

In the Boys’ U-10 semis, Hamid Israr overcame Ubaidullah 5-3, 4-5(3-5),5-4(5-0) while Hamza Roman beat M. Huzaifa Khan 5-4(5-1),4-0.
