PESHAWAR: The ANP has filed an adjournment motion with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to discuss the Bacha Khan University Charsadda terrorist attack, which killed 21 people on Wednesday.

It also announced it would hold special prayers for the attack victims at the Bacha Khan Markaz, the party’s provincial secretariat, here today (Friday).

In a statement issued by the Bacha Khan Markaz, ANP parliamentary leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Sardar Hussain Babak said he had filed an adjournment motion with the house for discussion on the Bacha Khan University attack.

He said whenever the provincial assembly would meet, he through the adjournment motion would draw the house’s attention towards the threats to the lives of school and university students besides holding a debate on the BKU killings.

Mr Babak said the BKU attack was tragic and his party condemned it.

He said the adjournment motion would highlight the questions being raised about the slow implementation of the National Action Plan on security, a reason for school and university students being targeted by terrorists so easily.

The ANP leader said the religio-political parties and security agencies should come up with a joint strategy to tackle the issue of terrorism.

He said the killing of BKU students was the result of the slow implementation of the NAP.

“If the government is serious about eliminating terrorism from the country, it should begin a crackdown on the terrorist networks,” he said.

Mr Babak said it was high time that the government show some seriousness against terrorism and provide people, especially students, with security and mental peace.

In another statement, the ANP said it would hold special prayers or soyem for the BKU attack victims at the Bacha Khan Markaz in Peshawar today (Friday).

It said the party workers would hold such events across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and adjoining tribal areas to pray for those who lost life or suffered injuries in the attack.

Also in the day, ANP-Wali chairperson and senior politician Nasim Wali Khan announced her party’s workers would observe 10-day mourning over the BKU killings.

In a statement issued here, she warned said Pukhtuns would not surrender to the Taliban militants.

Ms Nasim Wali said the forces giving weapons, money and training to Daesh and Al-Qaeda militants should be dealt with strictly.
