LAHORE, Nov 3: Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court on Monday directed the Rangers authorities to investigate frequent incidents of escape of prisoners from Sialkot district jail.

The CJ directed Col Zareen Bakhat of Pakistan Rangers who appeared on behalf of his director general to file a report within two weeks.

The CJ on October 25, taking suo motu notice of the escape of four prisoners from Bakhshi Khana of the Sialkot district courts, adjourned the hearing for Nov 3 with a direction to the Punjab advocate general to approach Rangers DG for the inquiry of the case.

Earlier, AGP Shabbar Raza Rizvi offered to investigate the matter through the Punjab police but the CJ showed his dissatisfaction at the police performance.

On it, the AGP said the matter could be investigated through any other agency like Rangers or FIA.
