ISLAMABAD, Nov 3: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Monday said the democratic institutions had worked during the last one year, and there should be no despondency regarding the future of democracy in the country.

The prime minister said he had taken a serious notice of the bureaucratic snags in the execution of development schemes presented by various lawmakers.

Speaking at a parliamentary party meeting of the PML and its allies at the Parliament House here on Monday, the prime said he had constituted a Prime Minister’s Monitoring Team to ensure implementation of directives issued from time to time and it had started functioning in two provinces — Sindh and Balochistan.

It would also start functioning in the remaining two provinces in due course.

The prime minister asked the lawmakers to take active part in the proceedings of parliament. He said the standing committees would also be made functional soon with nominations of their respective chairmen/chairpersons and members.

He said the Government-Opposition dialogue would resume soon after the arrival of PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

The prime minister prayed for the health and early recovery of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

A number of MNAs also spoke on the occasion and presented their suggestions for improvement in the working of various departments established for resolution of problems being faced by the people.

On this occasion MNA Mehnaz Rafi thanked the prime minister for giving the MNAs an opportunity to participate in the UN General Assembly session. She termed the experience highly useful and educating.
