PESHAWAR, Nov 3: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has said that poppy cultivation in any part of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) this season will not be allowed.

Presiding over a meeting to discuss law and order and other related issues in Fata here on Monday he said, political agents should double their efforts to achieve the desired results and streamline their plan of action in order to make sure that no one was cultivating poppy.

He took notice of road blockades in certain parts of Fata and directed the political authorities to take action against the people and tribes according to relevant laws.

The governor pointed towards the need for devising proper mechanism to regulate the cross-border movement and said in this regard accountability and identity should be ensured.

The meeting was also briefed about the action taken against the proclaimed offenders and criminals in different areas.
