KARACHI, Nov 3: Two ships carrying edible oil and iron ore were allotted berths at MPT and IOCB during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Monday.

Meanwhile, five more ships carrying containers edible oil and coal also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Three ships, Emblem, Fu Le and Joyous Society were busy in discharging edible oil, iron ore and general cargo.

Cargo handling activity remained slow as the total tonnage handled shrank to 16,866 tons consisted of imported commodities including 1,695 tons of edible oil, 11,261 tons of iron ore and 3,910 tons of general cargo.

Three ships, P&O Nedlloyed Damietta, Namibia and Zhi Qiang were expected to take berths at QICT and MPT, while Gizan Glory with coal was due to arrive.

Two more ships, Chemstar Moon and Qem Star, with edible oil and chemicals, were expected to arrive at the port on Tuesday.
