LAHORE: Former Pakistan Cricket Board secretary and renowned statistician Ghulam Mustafa Khan died here at a local hospital after a brief illness.

He got associated with then Board of Control for Cricket in Pakistan (now PCB) in 1957-58 as a statistician and was later promoted to Board Secretary in 1995 and served in that capacity for two years.

Ghulam Mustafa regularly contributed informative write-ups about Pakistan’s domestic cricket in the Wisden Cricket Almanac and the Cricketer International magazine in England.

He was meticulous about his work and for several years ran the cricket board affairs single-handedly.

PCB chairman Shaharyar M Khan, Executive Committee chief Najam Sethi and chief operating officer Subhan Ahmad have offered their heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of Ghulam Mustafa.

In a message, the PCB chairman said: “I have been deeply shocked and dismayed at the demise of Ghulam Mustafa Khan. The entire PCB management, indeed Pakistani cricketing fraternity, is deeply saddened at his demise. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time of sorrow. May Allah give his family and loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
