KARACHI: Two shopkeepers were shot dead in separate incidents in the metropolis on Saturday night, according to officials.

Haider Ali, 50, was gunned down in Clifton area.

Boat Basin police said he was standing outside his jewellery shop in Neelam Colony when gunmen attacked and killed him.

Mr Ali’s brother was also shot dead in Defence area recently. The police said they were investigating the murder to ascertain the motive.

In Qayumabad, Moham­med Ibrahim, 35, was gunned down on his mobile phone shop, said Korangi Industrial Area police.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, on Saturday claimed to have detained nine suspects in the city.

The paramilitary force conducted raids in Malir, Abdullah Chowrangi, FC Area, Korangi and Raxer Lane areas and picked up nine suspects, said the spokesperson.

The suspects belong to the banned outfits and Lyari gang groups, he said. Weapons including SMG were seized from their custody.
