PESHAWAR, Nov 2: Three Pakistanis who were set free by the Afghan government arrived at Torkham checkpoint on Sunday, some 46 kilometres from here.

Official sources said that the Afghan government released the three men on Saturday and handed them over to Pakistani mission in Kabul.

They were identified as Syed Amir Sarwar of North Karachi, Manzoor Ahmad Gillani of Gulshan-i-Iqbal (Karachi) and Rehan Iqbal of Quetta.

Later, they were handed over to the political administration of Khyber Agency and would be interrogate at Landi Kotal. Afghan government arrested them near Kandahar on Oct 5 and shifted them to Kabul prison.

LINKS DENIED: None of the three Pakistanis handed over to the Pakistan embassy in Kabul on Saturday had any links with the Pakistan Army, Foreign Ministry sources said Sunday, Our Staff Reporter in Islamabad adds.

“All three Pakistanis were private citizens, who had gone there for trade purposes,” a foreign ministry source said.

“We understand that they have now been sent back to Pakistan by the embassy officials,” the ministry sources said.
