KARACHI, Nov 2: Karachi University Vice-Chancellor Dr Zafar Saeed Saify has ordered upgradation of varsity’s Public Administration department to a fully fledged institute.

A KU press release issued on Sunday said that Associate Professor SM Talha had been appointed as project director of the KU Institute of Public Administration.

Dr SM Talha holds vast experience of serving at varied varsities in the US and Canada, besides doing research in the fields related to Public Administration, Human Resource Management and Political Science.

It is expected that, under the project, Masters-level courses would be offered to the local students at the institute by next year.

The new institute is likely to be funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Meanwhile, the VC, KU has also appointed Prof Abdul Qadeer, former chairman of the Applied Physics department as the project director of varsity’s Institute of Electronics.

The Institute of Electronics will offer MPhil and PhD programmes.—APP
