RAWALPINDI: Pakistan on Tuesday conducted a successful flight test of the Shaheen 1-A ballistic missile.
The flight test was aimed at re-validating several design and technical parameters of the weapon system. The Shaheen 1-A is capable of delivering different types of warheads up to a range of 900 kilometers.
Today’s launch, with the impact point in the Arabian Sea, was witnessed by senior officers from the Strategic Plans Division, strategic forces, scientists and engineers of strategic organisations. Strategic Plans Division Director General Lt Gen Mazhar Jamil congratulated the scientists and engineers for their dedication, professionalism and commitment towards yet another display of strengthening Pakistan’s defence.
Shaheen 1-A with its sophisticated and advanced guidance system is a highly accurate missile system.
Lt Gen Jamil reiterated that Pakistan’s strategic capabilities are based on ‘Credible Minimum Deterrence’ and desire for peaceful co-existence in the region.
The successful test launch has been warmly appreciated by the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan who congratulated the scientists and engineers on achieving another outstanding milestone.
Last week, Pakistan conducted a successful test launch of the medium-range Shaheen-III surface-to-surface ballistic missile. The missile is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 2,750 km.
Earlier this year, a top adviser to its government, retired Lt Gen Khalid Kidwai had said Pakistan needs short-range “tactical” nuclear weapons to deter India, dismissing concerns it could increase the risk of a nuclear war.
Neither side discloses the size of its arsenal. But a report by the Council on Foreign Relations think tank estimated that Pakistan has enough fissile material to produce between 110 and 120 nuclear weapons, and India enough for 90 to 110 weapons.

@Kadva Sach I will answer your queries, Polio: current leadership is committed to end this curse, and Pakistan did remarkable achievement in almost eradicating polio from the country. Thanks for showing such kind of successful tests. But beside this it's more important to educate Pakistan. There're a lot of problems which we're facing. Being Pakistani, it's become a habit to live without SUI GAS. Can you please solve this matter firstly. In our area, there is no gas. Cold water making kids ill.

today you can ask any government employee , they don't know if they are off tomorrow.
Again best deterrence yes , country should be defended at all cost .its good for the country but we should also have some money for the mosquitoes spray in the summer .if not only malaria can killed a lot of people than other enemy , not to mention clean water ,basic health etc.

Ifs about time politicans and the armed forces stop wasting money on military hardware , both countrys can destroy each other with the weapons they have now , lets start spending on health service , education , transport , electric , water projects , there has to be vision on both sides , lets look at europe and see how the europeans have improved the lives off there people , why cant we in india and pakistan have the same standards off life and services as in europe or America , people to people contact needs to be developed and the extremists on both sides need to be stopped

Now can we please go beyond these short range and medium range missiles to more potent inter continental ballistic missile range? Pakistan needs to be prepared for threats coming from any part of the world, just not India, as there are certain powers who are backing India behind the scene. Geopolitical scenario is changing all around us, we need to be on our toes.

One kills ordinary people instantly, the other kills in a protracted manner with prolonged misery and pain through lack of medicine, public health provision, malnutrition and starvation.

Our missiles save us at least $5 billion every year that we would otherwise spend on arms purchases abroad to match Modi's $25 billion arms imports. India is the world's largest importer of arms. We would have to maintain 1:5 ratio in arms spending to keep conventional parity with India, now the conventional parity has been superseded by nuclear parity at a minuscule fraction of the cost.

Since 1995 , we have probably spent about
$2 billion a year on nuclear arms, it's safe guard, missiles, research and development and manufacture , all in the name of deterrence. Children born 20 years ago are young adults now. Just imagine what wonders this wasted $40 billion ( $60 billion with inflation)would have done for Pakistan if we had spent it on schools, and learning institutions to teach people to manufacture everyday items for the world just like China does. Our exports today would have been in the $80 to $100 billion range vs the paltry $18 to $20 Billion. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet combined, make that in a year. In 1962, Pakistan's economy was the second fastest growing in Asia after Japan. What hope I had of where we will be in 50 years.
What a sad day that the only thing Pakistan is famous for is nukes we can't afford, terrorism and suicide bombers and a begging nation that would collapse overnight without foreign aid or remittances from overseas Pakistanis.

Since 20 years we have seen these news of successful test firing of missiles, but not a single word on how good they are at avoiding anti missiles. They may have pinpoint accuracy, but unless they get to their target, they are worthless.
