PESHAWAR, Oct 31: Corps Commander Lieutenant-General Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai has said that education plays an important role in the progress and enlightenment of nations and that is why the Pakistan Army has attached immense importance to this vital sector in its developmental strategy for the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas.

He was speaking at the opening ceremony of a primary school constructed by the Pakistan Army at Sheen Qamar in the Khyber Agency on Friday.

Lt-Gen Aurakzai regretted that tribal areas had the lowest literacy rate in the region and that was one of the major reasons of backwardness of the area.
