Sports festival begins

KARACHI, Dec 26: Quaid-i-Azam Sports Festival under the auspices of Sindh Sports Board began here Tuesday with the opening events of mini marathon, rowing and table tennis held at Mazar-i-Quaid, Merchant Navy Club and S.S.B. Sports Complex Nazimabad respectively.

The following were the results of various events took place on opening day.

Mini Marathon

Men: Muhammad Ishaque Ist, Khasta Badshah 2nd, Muhammad Tanveer 3rd,

Women’s- Naseem Bibi, Ist Shaheen 2nd Badar 3rd.

Boy’s - Umaid Ahmed Ist, Basharat Hussain 2nd Arsalan Alam 3rd

Girl’s- Nida Khan Ist, Shabana 2nd, Anam 3rd

Table Tennis

Men’s Singles, winner, Asim Aziz (Habib Bank Ltd) Runners-up, Asim

Hussain (Hasanabad Club Korangi).

Women’s Singles- winner, Sania Qaiser (Habib Bank Ltd) Runners-up, Sohia Ahzaz (S.S.B. Complex Nazimabad).

Results of Rowing events took place at Merchant Navy Club:

Single’s Scull (Sprint): Abbas Baloch Ist, Irfan Jiva 2nd, Sangeen Khan 3rd.

Double’s Scull (Sprint): Asghar Ali and Asim Shah Ist, Ghulam Rasool and Yaqoob Niazi 2nd, Zahid and Shafqat 3rd.

Coxless Pair: Jawed Alam and Shahzad Khan Ist, Rahim Niazi and Shahid Ali 2nd, Asif Adam Ali and Zubair 3rd.

Coxless Four: Jawed Alam, Shahzad Khan, Abbas Baloch and Asim Shah stood first.—APP
