KHAIRPUR, Oct 30: A police constable was killed and a TPO was injured near the Kando Wahan village in an encounter with bandits who were fleeing after kidnapping three persons on Wednesday night.

The policeman killed was identified as Amanullah Shar. Keti Pir Pagaro TPO Karim Dino Shar was injured.

Lal Bux, Anwar Odho, Ajmal, Dilshad and Saifullah were on the way to a banana orchard from the Meeral Odho village, Faiz Mohammad Bindu police station jurisdiction, in a pickup when eight bandits intercepted them and took them to kutcha area at gunpoint.

Later, the bandits freed Lal Bux and Anwar Odho, owner of the banana orchard.

On receiving information, Odho tribesmen and the police followed the bandits.

The bandits escaped after the Khairpur DPO called more police force from Shikarpur and Sukkur districts.

The injured was taken to the Sukkur Civil Hospital.

The body of the constable was sent to his native village in the Faiz Ganj taluka.

TWO INJURED: Two persons were injured on the Pir Jo Goth-Sukkur road near Baghar Shakh on Wednesday night when some armed men opened fire on the pickup they were travelling in.

The injured, Liaquat Memon and Qasim Odho, were taken to the Sukkur Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, Ameer Bux Kalhoro was deprived of his tractor by armed men near Garhi Moori.

INJURED: Twenty-two passengers were injured when an Abbottabad-bound bus overturned near Nango Shah on the National Highway on Tuesday night.

The injured were shifted to a local hospital where 15 of them were hospitalized.

They were identified as Sheer Dad Khan, Gul Nawaz, Mohammad Yar Khan, Mansoor, Ghulam Fahad, Razi Khan, Habibur Rehman, Mustafa Khan, Misbah Khan, Mohammad Moin Khan, Mumtaz Khan, Pervez Khan, Javed Khan and Mohammad Kabir.

An injured man, Pervez, told newsmen that the accident was result of reckless driving.
