QUETTA: Three suspected militants belonging to the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi group were killed and two others were injured and arrested after a gunbattle with security forces in Sariab area here late on Saturday night.

A spokesman for the Frontier Corps said that personnel of the FC and intelligence agencies raided an area on the outskirts of Sariab on a tip-off that LJ militants were present there.

The raid triggered an exchange of fire between security forces and LJ men, leaving three militants dead.

Two others, who suffered injuries in the gunbattle, were arrested, he said.

The FC spokesman said that the LJ men were wanted for their involvement in several cases of targeted killing, bomb blast and other heinous crime.
