Published October 30, 2003

HYDERABAD, Oct 29: The president, Sindh Taraqqi Passand Students Federation, Qadir Channa, has announced that a black day would be observed in all the universities, colleges and schools throughout Sindh against hooliganism and a memorandum would also be submitted to heads of educational institutions.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club on Wednesday, Qadir Channa, has directly accused activists of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation of a murderous attack on the vice-president of the federation, Akhtar Samo, and other leaders at the Sindh University campus on Oct 23.

Mr Channa also appealed to the leaders of all students organizations, intellectuals, writers and leaders of public opinion to take serious notice of the rampant hooliganism in the educational institutions and perform their due role in this regard.

He said that the STPSF was performing a positive role in students politics and it was striving to eliminate corruption from the educational institutions and doing everything possible for the promotion of academic peace.

He, however, said that the JSSF for the last two years had been creating disturbances at the Sindh University campus and its activists had attacked the STPSF students on two occasions.

He said these negative activities of the JSSF had been brought to the notice of the general public and students’ community through press conferences.
