LANDI KOTAL: The political administration of Khyber Agency has devised new regulations to make the Khasadar force more proactive and assign new responsibilities to them to improve the law and order situation in the tribal agency.

Talking to mediapersons in Jamrud after offering ‘fateha’ for a Khasadar official killed by a gunman on Thursday, political agent Shahab Ali Shah said that efforts were being made to regulate the official duties of all personnel of the Khasadar and Levies forces in Khyber Agency.

He said that under the new regulations the Khasadar commanders were assigned the task of information gathering, quickly responding to any act of terrorism or other incidents and maintaining law and order in their respective areas of responsibilities.

“The new regulations were put in place to discourage ordinary residents substituting for regular Khasadar officials and making the regular force more responsible and proactive,” he said, adding that salaries were now given to the Khasadar and Levies personnel through local banks to stop pilferage of salaries by unauthorised people.

The regulations, he said, would help in improving performance of the force with area commanders also made responsible to ensure the presence of the force personnel at the place of their duty.

The political agent announced these regulations after reports about fleeing from the scene of two Khasadar personnel while one of their colleagues was unned down by an armed man in Jamrud on Thursday.
