ISLAMABAD: Kohsar police has obtained an arrest warrant for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister’s nephew, Ali Khattak, on Wednesday, in connection to a fraud case registered with them.

The warrant was issued from the court of Area Magistrate Adnan Rasheed, police sources said, adding that the accused is also the son of PTI MNA Nafeesa Inayatulla Khan Khattak.

A police source said, “Ali Khattak was living in Islamabad but disappeared when the case was registered. His mobile phone was also switched off. There were reports that he had moved to KP to avoid being arrested, because his uncle is the chief minister there.”

Last Monday, the police got reports of two vehicles bearing the same license plates on Margalla Road in F-6. They found a white Toyota Prius and a silver Toyota Avanza, both bearing the registration number RV 303.

The man in the Avanza produced genuine papers while the man in the Prius failed to produce proper papers. The police arrested both men and seized the cars.

The men were moved to the police station where a case was registered under the Pakistan Penal Codes’ sections 420, 468 and 471.

When interrogated, the men said Ali Khattak owned the cars and later made the same statement in a magistrates’ court. On being requested by the police, the court issued an arrest warrant for Ali Khattak.
