DUBAI, Oct 3: A 5-member gang involved in forging and selling visas in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been busted by the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department.
The members of the gang are, two Afghan brothers, one of them holding a Pakistani passport and deported from the country last year, a Pakistani, an Indian and a Bangladeshi.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of an Afghan, who had used a forged employment visa to enter the country.
He revealed during interrogation that he had been deported from the country on July 31, 2000, and at that time he was holding a Pakistani passport. He later managed to obtain an Afghan passport to reenter the country.
He then asked his brother, a UAE resident, to buy him a visa. The brother bought the visa for Dh7,000 through a Pakistani agent in the UAE.
His brother, who submitted the visa at the airport, was also arrested. The Pakistani accused confessed to have been trading in visas with the help of an Indian, who was also arrested.
The Indian admitted to have been forging and selling visas, charging between Dh4,000 and Dh10,000 for a visa. He informed the authorities about the Bangladeshi, who helped in marketing the forged visas.
