KARACHI, Oct 26: Though history is favoring Pakistan against arch-rival India in the Afro Asian Games, group B hockey match, but with home advantage India have the edge, in an interesting and nerve tingling match between the two teams on Monday.

Since 1956 Pakistan and India have played against each other in 106 international matches. Pakistan had won 50 out of 106 matches against India as compare to 37 won by India and 19 matches resulted in draws.

There is not much goal difference between the two teams as Pakistan has scored 210 goals as compared to India’s 191 goals.

However, in the year 2003, India is ahead of Pakistan as both teams faced one another on six occasions.

India has won three, Pakistan grabbed two, while one match resulted in a draw. India netted 22 goals to Pakistan’s 18 goals.

India seemed much more confident of winning the match as the previous match was won by them and because of their home crowd and soil advantage.

In their first match Pakistan survived a scare against underdogs Nigeria and could only beat them by a narrow 4-3 margin. In the second match also Pakistan did not win the match convincingly against Egypt, which ended 3-1.—PPI
