QUETTA: Two men belonging to the Hazara Shia community were shot dead near Spiny Road here on Saturday evening.

According to police, Izatullah and Muhammad Hussain were going to Hazara Town from the city when assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at their car.

One of the victims died on the spot and the other was critically injured. He was taken to the Civil Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

“It was a sectarian targeted killing,” a police officer said, adding that an investigation had been launched.

It was the fourth such incident in the city in as many days.

AFP adds: Senior police official Abdul Waheed Khattak confirmed the incident and said it mirrored similar shootings earlier this week. “Two Hazara brothers were fired at on Friday near the same locality of Hazara town and one of them was killed while another was seriously injured.

“Likewise another member of the community was killed on Wednesday when he arrived at his auto workshop,” Mr Khattak said.
