Qazi blasts Fata army operations

Published October 25, 2003

ISLAMABAD, Oct 24: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has warned the government of the fallout of the ongoing military operation in the tribal areas, saying it could endanger the country’s integrity.

Talking to newsmen at the cafeteria of the Parliament House after staging a walkout from the National Assembly session along with other leaders of the combined opposition here on Friday, MMA’s parliamentary leader Qazi Hussain Ahmed said there was a strong resentment among the people of the tribal areas over the ongoing military operation.

Mr Hussain said if this operation was not stopped the MMA would launch an anti-government campaign after Ramazan.

The MMA leader said the military operations were drawing hatred from the tribal people for the Pakistan Army.
