CJ takes note of prisoners’ escape

LAHORE, Oct 24: Taking suo moto notice of four prisoners’ escape from the Sialkot judicial lock-up, the LHC Chief Justice on Friday directed the Advocate-General Punjab to seek instructions and report the court on Oct 31.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry took notice of the negligence on the part of police and jail administration and termed it a weakness of the administration.

Four prisoners — Qaisar Butt, Irfan, Hamayun Babar and Nadeem — had escaped on Oct 20 after breaking the wall of the judicial lockup in the presence of police.—APP
