TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 24: Owners find it difficult to run their powerloom units in wake of increase in yarn prices.

A number of owners apprehended that they would not be able to meet agreements for cloth supply to Faisalabad-based exporters if the yarn prices did not come down.

A spokesman of the Powerlooms Owners Association said the yarn price had risen from Rs1,000 to Rs1,200 per bag. He urged the government to announce a relief package for the powerloom industry to save the jobs of thousands of workers attached to it.

Flour bags: The local food department will sell 56,597 flour bags on reduced prices to the poor during the month of Ramazan.

This was stated by District Food Controller Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor here on Wednesday.

He said 24 outlets had been set up in the district where flour would be available at Rs160 per 20 kilograms.
