DADU, Oct 22: A large number of councillors and shopkeepers held a demonstration on Wednesday to protest against the EDO, health; the civil surgeon of the Civil Hospital, Dadu, and other health officials.

They marched through the main roads of the town and held a demonstration outside the press club for two hours. They were led by Maqsood Chandio (JSQM), Anwar Mallah (PPP), Jawed Ahmed (MQM), and Ahmed Memon.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Maqsood said that the administration of the Civil Hospital, Dadu, was not providing medicines and proper treatment to the patients.

He claimed that due to posting of a junior doctor as the civil surgeon the entire system of the hospital had collapsed. He claimed that doctors at the Civil Hospital were compelling patients to visit their private clinics.

Mr Anwar alleged that the hospital staff was selling medicines to private medical stores.

Mr Jawed alleged that health units and Taluka hospitals were lacking in facilities.

He said that the doctors of remote area hospitals were not performing their duty and the district health administration was not taking any action against them.

He said that some 15 days back the district Council had passed a resolution against the administration of the Civil Hospital and demanded that the storekeeper of the Civil Hospital and the in charge dispenser of female ward be removed but no action had been taken against them as yet.

SHORTAGE OF FUNDS: Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister for Health Noman Saigal has said that due to shortage of funds, hospitals of Sindh were facing difficulties but all necessary equipment will be provided to the hospitals and doctors should perform their duties honestly.

He said this while addressing doctors and officials at the Civil Hospital on Wednesday.
