FAISALABAD: A labourer was arrested on charges of kidnapping and killing a minor daughter of his employer in the Factory Area on Friday.

Mukhtar Ahmed informed police on Thursday that his four-year-old daughter, Kiran, had been missing all day.

Neighbours claimed they had seen her with Muhammad Saeed, hired by Ahmed for the construction of his house.

During a search, one of Kiran’s shoes was found from the under-construction house. The shoe carried a slip inscribed with a demand of Rs15 million as ransom.

When Saeed was asked about Kiran, he failed to provide a satisfactory response. A kidnapping case was registered against him under Section 365-A.

During interrogation, Saeed confessed to kidnapping Kiran for ransom and later killing her.

The body of the girl was recovered.

ENCOUNTER: Police claim to have killed two alleged robbers in an encounter in the wee hours of Friday in Dijkot.

According to a police handout, Samanabad police set up a picket near D Type Bridge on Samundri Road early on Friday where it signalled four people on two motorcycles to stop. On seeing the police, the motorcyclists rushed towards Gojra where Dijkot police tried to stop them, but they went towards the fields.

Police said the suspects opened fire on them, which was retaliated. Two unidentified armed men died on the spot, while their two accomplices managed to escape.

Dijkot police registered a case against the suspects and City Police Officer Afzaal Kausar formed a team, led by the Iqbal Town superintendent of police, to trace the remaining suspects.
