PESHAWAR: The girl students outshined boys in results of BA/BSc examinations, announced by University of Peshawar here on Monday. The top three positions were clinched by girl students of Jinnah College for Women, UoP and Fazaia Degree College Peshawar Cantonment.

Sumbal Naz and Noreen Amin, BSc students of Jinnah College for Women, obtained 511 and 507 marks out of 550 marks and grabbed first and second positions respectively. Madeeha Gul of Fazaia Degree College got third position by getting 472 marks.

In Bachelor of Art discipline, Masooma Zahra of FG Degree College for Women, Peshawar Cantonment got 439 marks, Mohammad Asad Khan Akhunzada of Edwardes College Peshawar obtained 422 marks and Maheeha Hussain of Jinnah College for Women secured 417 marks and clinched first, second and third positions respectively.

The results were announced by controller of examination Dr Rashid Khan in a ceremony held at University of Peshawar. In BA/BSc part-I, a total of 20,228 students appeared and 4,239 of them were declared successful with a passing percentage of 20.96.

In BA/BSc part-II, 15,751 students appeared and 6,177 of them were declared successful with a passing percentage of 39.22.

On the occasion, UoP Vice-chancellor Dr Mohammad Rasul Jan distributed certificates and shields among the students and offered free education to three top position holders in the university.
