Zilhaj moon not sighted in S. Arabia

KARACHI: The Zilhaj moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Sunday. Therefore, Tuesday (Sept 15) would be the first day of Zilhaj in the country, says a statement issued by the Islamic Crescents’ Observa­tion Project.

The statement posted on the website of Khaleej Times said the first day of Eidul Azha would fall on Thursday, Sept 24.

The Day of Arafat would be on Wednesday, Sept 23, added the statement.

Ruet-i-Hilal committee

In Pakistan, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will meet in Karachi on Monday (Ziqa’ad 29) to decide about the sighting or otherwise of the Zilhaj moon.

The meeting to be held at the main offices of the Pakistan Meteorological Department will be chaired by the chairman of the committee, Mufti Muneebur Rehman.
