PUTRAJAYA, Oct 17: Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and his counterparts from Saudi Arabia and Malaysia met here Friday on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Conference summit and held consultations on the ‘Putrajaya Declaration’.

Malaysian foreign minister Hamid Al Bar, Saudi foreign minister Prince Saud al-Faisal and Mr Kasuri discussed the vision of “enlightened moderation” presented by President Gen Pervez Musharraf at the summit.

The meeting also deliberated on Pakistan’s proposal of “global partnership” to achieve world peace.

It also discussed a suggestion by Saudi Arabia for establishing Islamic Fiqah Academy.

According to the sources, the three ministers also deliberated on the modalities and criteria for associating non-OIC members with the Conference.

Russia had, in the recent past, indicated its desire to become a member of the 57-member Islamic grouping.
