Prof Faruqi withdraws resignation

KARACHI: President of the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) Prof Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi has withdrawn his resignation as the head of the association on the request of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan.

Prof Faruqi, who is also a member of the PCB Governing Board, tendered his resignation after the PCB refused to give direct entry to two Karachi teams in the National Twenty20 Cup.

“I cannot refuse the request of legendary person like Shaharyar Khan, who is also our elder,” Faruqi told APP on Wednesday.

The PCB chief in a recent function here lauded the services of Prof Faruqi and requested him to withdraw his resignation.

However, Prof Faruqi said he would keep protecting the rights of Karachi players and continue promoting cricket and working for upliftment of the game in Karachi.

“By resigning I tried to save an institution,” he said.

I believe that he shouldn't have taken back his resignation. This has been repeated over and over again in the PCB set up where threats of resigning has been passed around like a glass of water. Cricket administrators are just like politicians. Tendering resignations, or threats of tendering resignations has become a statement of fashion from karachi based politicians and now the cricket administrations. In my view, if one is trying to save an institution and truly believes that he/she is doing the right thing and is going to stay course on their words then there it's utter nonsense to tender resignation and then take it back. Because of these 2 face administrators Pakistan Cricket is suffering.

Not right decision, sharyar you treating your elder on the should of Karachi, he is not taking care Karachi and Sharyar working on the influence of Waqar/Najam/ Haroon/ Inti/Zakir/Mushtaq/Azar ali/Misbah all from punjab no share Sindh and Karachi depriving one team only instead of 2 team. Unfortunately this gang is playing with sharyar and Karachi players are getting their right. You should not withdraw your resignation.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan said on Thursday if India does not confirm the series, the board is likely to cut expenditures to remain financially stable. “Obviously we have estimated that we can generate even by a conservative estimate around $50 to $60 million from the series which translates into Rs5 to Rs6 billion for us,” a PCB official said, according to the Press Trust of India. “The PCB has been banking on this series to generate surplus funds but if that does not happen then automatically we have to cut expenditures and go for some downsizing,” he added.

YOU RESIGN - YOU WALK. What is all this nonsense about a legendary/elder person like Shaharyar? If you had any respect for him, you would have spoken to him BEFORE the resignation. Now it's too late !!!!! Or are you going to give us the classic Pakistani response that 'everyone makes a mistake'? Take responsibility for your actions sir - and let's get in someone else to take over the role.
