LAHORE: A number of people held a demonstration against private schools in the city for increasing fee at Liberty Chowk here on Monday.

Holding placards the parents demanded Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif should take action against what they called “private schools mafia”.

They said there should be a strict regulatory body to stop the private schools from “increasing fee at will”.

“The private schools increase fee every now and then and there has been no check of the government on them which is unfortunate,” Halima Hasan, a protester, told Dawn.

She said her two children were studying at a private school which recently increased its fee by 25 percent “without any justification”.

She urged Punjab government to take up the matter seriously.

Another participant claimed the parents would regularly hold demonstrations till the chief minister listened to their “just demands”.
